Horse behaviour consultant

In addition to being a qualified and experienced dog trainer and canine behaviour consultant, Sharon is also a highly qualified and experienced rider, coach and equine behaviourist.


Like other species, horses can develop a wide range of behavioural issues. Equine behaviour consultants have the skills and knowledge to develop programs to address these issues. Some of the most common owner concerns include:

  • aggression (horse-to-horse and horse-to-human)
  • extreme reactivity
  • phobias
  • anxiety
  • stereotypic behaviours (windsucking, weaving, box-walking)
  • issues with confinement 
  • issues with travel
  • needle-shy
  • paste-shy

Sharon's relevant qualifications include:

  • Currently completing a PhD (veterinary pharmacology)
  • Bachelor Applied Science (equine)
  • Graduate Diploma (Captive Vertebrate Management)
  • Master of Animal Science
  • Certified Horse Behaviour Consultant (CHBC) by examination through the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants (IAABC)
  • Riding:  Australian representative rider. Highly successful competitor to 4-star eventing and Grand Prix level dressage. 
  • Coaching: Elite level coach; qualified to coach through to the Olympic levels (NCAS Level 3 specialist). Sharon has coached numerous riders to championship wins; including having coached Indian and Japanese teams to success on International campaigns.

Organising a consultation ……….

Consultations are available via Skype, email, or phone, with video footage supplied by the owner. Alternatively consultations can be organised at the facility where the horse is housed.
